Runner’s Knee

Iliotibial band syndrome is commonly referred to as ‘Runners Knee’ or  IT band syndrome. It is a painful overuse knee injury that affects the outer part of the knee. It is fairly common in runners and cyclists.

Certain factors such as a leg-length difference, over-pronation, weak gluteal muscles, tight ilio-tibial band and excessive downhill running can cause Runner’s Knee

Furtunattely a combination of rest, avoidance of aggravating actvities and a thorough treatment and rehabilitation programme can resolve this injury.
